The unknown first lieutenant is wearing a regulation frock coat. He is wearing a Chausser pattern forage cap (kepi) with crossed cannon on the front. The crossed cannon have the number "2" in at the center, indicating the regiment. The back mark is a Boston one. He is wearing a light blue vest and trousers. His shoulder straps would have a scarlet field and gold bars. The buttons should be eagle buttons with the letter "A" on the shield.
