Eighteen-year-old George Henry Graffam of St. Albans, Somerset Co., Maine, served as a private in Co. B., 30th Maine Infantry. He was transferred to Co. K, 9th Regiment Veteran's Reserve Corps, indicating that at some point he was wounded or otherwise disabled. He enlisted on December, 18 1863 and his regiment was mustered into federal service on January 11, 1864. They served in Louisiana and were engaged at Sabine Cross Roads as part of Bank's illfated Red River Campaign. Following that they were transferred to Virginia and served in Sheridan's Shenandoah Valley Campaign.
